The DJI Mavic Air was ahead of its time when it was released in 2018, with features such as rear obstacle avoidance and a unique flame red design. The drone is easy to use and maintain, with a premium feel and a gimbal cover that is the best that DJI has designed. However, the video transmission system is weak, utilizing enhanced Wi-Fi, and the drone's battery life is shorter than advertised. Finding batteries for the out-of-production drone can also be difficult. Despite these drawbacks, the DJI Mavic Air is still a viable option in 2022, especially for beginners who can find great deals on eBay.
