The Lenovo Legion Y540 is a great budget gaming laptop with solid thermal performance, a decent selection of ports, and a highly recommended 144Hz panel option. The Y545, on the other hand, has a classic gamer look and inferior thermal performance. The reviewer prefers the Y540 due to its cleaner design and better performance. The keyboard layout with a number pad may take some getting used to, and the trackpad and speakers are average. The lack of manual fan control is a downside, but overall, the Y540 is a great value for the price.
