Apple MacbookAir (2018) reviews

Our Apple MacbookAir (2018) reviews Summary

Is the 2018 MacBook Air worth it?

If you're looking for a new laptop that won’t break the bank, you've probably considered the Apple MacBook Air 2018. I mean, it's Apple, so it’s gotta be good, right? Well, let’s dive into the reviews to find out.

Unboxing... Zzz

The unboxing of the 2018 MacBook Air is brought to us by Setapp, and while it's intriguing, it's not exactly a selling point. So, let’s skip over that part.

The good, the bad, and the nerdy

If the title of MKBHD's review is any indication, the cheapest MacBook Air is “fine.” Fine? Apple is supposed to be the best of the best. Make up your mind, Marques! Although, if you really want to know, he also tried to replace his laptop with the MacBook Air, so he can't think it’s that fine.

Good news though. According to Austin Evans, the 2018 MacBook Air is new and pretty, with a Retina display, Touch ID, and larger Force Touch trackpad (Oooo). However, he suggests looking into an iPhone XR, so maybe the MacBook Air isn't all it’s cracked up to be.

Now, AppleInsider doesn’t pull any punches when they say that the MacBook Air holds up in the design and aesthetic department, but, and this is a big but, there are other MacBooks out there that might be a better option. In fact, the lack of groundbreaking internals and future software support puts the 2018 MacBook Air in a “weird situation.”

So overall, not too shabby. The MacBook Air is still holding up against newer competitors, but maybe not for long.

And the verdict is...

Drumroll, please. So, is the 2018 MacBook Air worth your hard-earned cash? Based on the reviews, it sounds like a good everyday laptop, but no powerhouse. That means no intensive video editing or gaming for you, sorry.

It’s reliable, easy to use and maintain, so that’s a big plus. However, the lack of a USB-A port and not-as-fast-as-they-could-be processor could steer potential buyers away.

But hey, if you’re in the market for a new laptop, don’t mind paying a pretty penny, and don’t plan on doing anything too intense, go for it. If not, might we recommend checking out the latest M1 MacBook Air or the newest M2 MacBook Air.

Decision made. Now go enjoy your new purchase and try not to spill coffee on it. Cheers!
